450 Undocumented Immigrant Youth from Across the Country Rally in Dallas, Texas
DALLAS, TEXAS- The United We Dream (UWD) Network, the nation’s largest immigrant youth-led organization, is convening 450 immigrant youth leaders from across the country to plan the next phase of the immigrant youth movement at its 3rd annual National Congress. From Friday, November 11th through Sunday, November 13th, participants will strategize to fight back immigration enforcement and anti-immigrant policies that are terrorizing our communities. UWD is also celebrating 10 years of empowering immigrant youth to create change and promote justice for immigrant families.
The North Texas Dream Team, an affiliate organization of UWD, is hosting the largest-ever immigrant youth convening because thanks to the leadership of this state 12 other states have implemented in-state tuition polices to provide equal access to higher education for immigrant youth.
Friday, November 11, 2011
The North Texas Dream Team hosts a welcome reception and general plenary session on the Criminalization of Our Undocumented Immigrant Community, featuring national experts from National Day Laborers Organizing Network (NDLON), the Advancement Project, the Detention Watch Network, and other organizations.
Saturday, November 12, 2011
Congress attendees dressed in their graduation caps and gown, business attire, and yellow shirts, will form a human chain outside the Texas Detention Center located at 8101 Stemmons Freeway from 9-9:45AM.
**DREAMERS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR INTERVIEWS AFTER THE ACTION**
A formal celebration will be hosted on Saturday evening in honor of the work invested in the DREAM movement in the last decade.
