Washington, DC – On Sunday, the Trump Administration unveiled another order to restrict immigrants from certain countries to the United States — essentially an expanded version of his white supremacist ban to keep Muslims and refugees out.
The expanded ban includes Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Somalia in addition to new countries Chad, North Korea, and Venezuela.
Greisa Martinez, Advocacy Director at United We Dream and DACA beneficiary, said:
“United We Dream stands shoulder to shoulder with our Muslim members and with the larger Muslim community to fight this latest incarnation of Trump’s consistent attack.
“The agenda of Trump and his racist staff, including Jeff Sessions and Stephen Miller, is to restrict the migration of people of color seeking refuge in our country. Adding three more low-income countries to his ban doesn’t make it a more moderate proposal. It’s just an expanded Muslim ban and we will fight it because an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us.”
