United We Dream Honors the Courage of Immigrant Community Freedom Fighters Attacked Yesterday In Los Angeles

United We Dream Press Releases

Washington, DC –  Yesterday, peaceful protesters organized by the Service Employees International Union, UNITE HERE, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights and others were attacked by the driver of a car who accelerated through a crowd while advocating to get a Republican Congressman to stop the Trump mass-deportation agenda.

Adrian Reyna, Membership Director for United We Dream and DACA beneficiary said:

“Let their cause be heard: Congressman Ed Royce Must Stop the Trump mass deportation agenda and preserve the Temporary Protected Status Program (TPS)! TPS protects about 300,000 immigrants from deportation and yesterday’s protesters were demanding that their Congressman protect their lives.

“Many people don’t realize the incredible courage it takes for us to put on our t-shirts and march for dignity and justice. We know white supremacy relies on violence and lies – whether the perpetrator is behind the wheel of a car, an ICE agent armed with a gun or the Attorney General of the United States.

“The killing of DACA and the threat to kill TPS is how Jeff Sessions and the white supremacists would wipe out over a million people of color from this country and we call on all people of conscience to rise up and stop them.

“This is our home and we are here to stay!”
