Position summary

United We Dream (UWD) is looking for a visionary and effective Operations Coordinator to join our robust Operations Team. The Operations Coordinator will be responsible for coordination and management of day-to-day operational activities, contract management, budgeting, and compliance. The right person for this job is a highly motivated team player, critical thinker, with excellent writing and communications skills, willing learner, multi-tasker able to time manage effectively with our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and be passionate about UWD’s mission and political and cultural savvy. They must be committed to fight for freedom and dignity for all communities of color, are reliable and committed to meeting deadlines in a fast paced environment, all while working collaboratively across our teams. This is a full-time position based in Washington, D.C. reporting to the Operations and Finance Deputy Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Across Responsibilities 
    • Periodically support drafting and implementing new policies and procedures 
    • Practice and follow UWD internal processes, policies and controls 
    • Maintains and provides recommendations on systems
    • Maintains accurate and up‐to‐date records and files
  • Contract Management Support
    • Coordinate with consultants, vendors and UWD team to support:
      • development of contracts, consent to subcontract, amendments or revisions, and other contractual matters.
      • appearance and material releases for media engagements
      • data agreements, data licencing and updating of data policies
  • Budgeting
    • Oversee Events Budgets and Monthly State Budget in conjunction with logistics team and state organizers; in order to track spending estimates over time in alignment with organizational commitments 
    • At the end of every month, support state administrators and national offices with their actual vs. budget analysis results
    • Prepare program or campaign financial updates as needed between regular quarterly reporting
  • UWDA Compliance
    • Support regular reporting required for UWDA 
    • Support the implementation of compliance policies related to UWDA electoral engagement
    • Support budget management

Abilities and Experience

  • Quickly able to adapt to United We Dream’s voice
  • Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and interpersonal skills)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast paced environment
  • Enjoys working with others and is a team player
  • Ability to be part of intersecting teams and give and receive support as necessary
  • Natural ability to build relationships, lead and train others
  • Personal experience with the issues facing the UWD membership preferred; but not required
  • Experience on immigrant youth/immigrant rights organizing and advocacy preferred
  • Deeply committed to United We Dream’s mission and an ability to balance your burning passion for justice with a good sense of humor
