The results of our eighth annual survey of DACA recipients underscore what we’ve known all along: Biden and Congress must deliver on a pathway to citizenship NOW before DACA dies in the courts.
United We Dream (UWD), in partnership with the U.S Immigration Policy Center at the University of California San Diego, the National Immigration Law Center, and the Center for American Progress (CAP), surveyed DACA recipients across 42 states and Washington, D.C. DACA has had a transformative impact on people’s lives, allowing people with DACA to switch to higher paying jobs, gain access to work benefits and build their lives here in the United States. These benefits have flowed into their families, communities, and the rest of the country – yet DACA remains a temporary solution that’s under active threat.
DACA has opened many doors for our communities, from financial security to increased access to education, but the temporary nature of the program keeps recipients on the edge. For as long as DACA has existed, DACA has been under attacks from right wing politicians. This survey shows that the majority of recipients worry about the threat of deportation and the harm to their physical safety, well-being, and livelihood that it would cause.
As conservative courts decide on the fate of DACA, Congress and Biden have no other choice than to take action NOW to deliver a pathway to citizenship for the millions of undocumented people living in the U.S .
SIGN THIS PETITION and urge Biden and Congress to ensure a pathway to citizenship for all 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S before time runs out! ✍️
