Going to the doctor for an annual check-up or when you’re sick is a human need. Unfortunately, for far too many people, especially our undocumented communities, affordable health insurance is often inaccessible.

Last month, the Biden administration announced a new rule to expand Medicaid and Affordable Care Act eligibility to DACA recipients. For the first time in 11 years, DACA recipients could finally have access to a public health care option. If implemented, this proposed rule will help people with DACA who have previously faced gaps in coverage, high medical bills, and fear of seeking public services obtain a new lifeline of support.

This proposed rule is critical because many DACA recipients experience harmful mental and physical health effects from the constant threats to their temporary protections. Our fight for a pathway to citizenship can’t be successful without our people’s mental and physical wellness!

We have the collective power to ensure this rule is implemented without delay. The proposed rule is undergoing a public comment period, in which our voice can demonstrate to the Biden administration why health care is a human right – regardless of immigration status.  

This Comment Period ends on June 23rd. United We Dream and partners are asking immigrants and allies to add their name in support of implementation of this new rule. The total number of supporters will be submitted in our official public comment.
