DACA is not enough. Over 500 DACA recipients surveyed in 2023 overwhelmingly agreed that while DACA does provide more opportunities to advance economically and access higher education, it fails our communities by only offering temporary relief from deportation and leaving millions of immigrants out of this program.
For the 9th year in a row, United We Dream (UWD) has partnered with Tom K. Wong of the U.S. Immigration Policy Center at the University of California, San Diego, the National Immigration Law Center, and the Center for American Progress to survey DACA recipients across the country about their lived experience as DACA holders.
According to survey respondents, the constant attacks on the DACA program in the courts create anxiety, instability, and uncertainty for the nearly 600,000 DACA recipients and their families. Our immigrant communities need Congress to take action NOW to enact a clear pathway to citizenship!
The leadership and organizing of immigrant youth won DACA over a decade ago, and now it’s time for us to come together again to win permanent protections for our communities.
