Beware of Notarios, Fraud, and Scams


Do you plan on seeking legal help for your DACA renewal application? Its important to be careful about what kind of legal help you get, remember, the wrong legal help can hurt!  Make sure you don’t get scammed by rumors, notarios and fraud.  Check out some tips below about what you should you keep in mind as you search for legal help.


Be aware of notarios!

Notarios CANNOT practice immigration law. Only licensed attorneys and Board of Immigration Appeals Accredited (BIA) Representatives can. Always ask to see credentials. Check out our guide on how to find a good immigration attorney.


Never pay to print or get DACA renewal applications

You can get the applications for FREE and print them right off the USCIS website. No one should charge you for them.


If it sounds too good to be true…

Don’t believe rumors and don’t be a victim of scams. Many people hear what they want to hear–be smart and use your common sense. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. When in doubt, check with us at Own the Dream or with the USCIS website for answers.

As of right now, you can only apply for a renewal of your DACA, if someone claims to be able to offer you something more, don’t believe them.
