Washington, DC – Trump and his administration announced a new version of a refugee ban through another Executive Order.
The ban bars admission of 11 nationalities, including Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Mali, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Yemen and stateless refugees from Palestine will be banned for a 90-day period.
Sanaa Abrar, Policy and Advocacy Manager at United We Dream, said:
“This new refugee ban is fundamentally wrong, inhumane and un-American. Trump and his white supremacist advisors have been trying for months to demolish our country’s resettlement program and to close the doors on the most vulnerable: children and families seeking shelter and safety as they face extreme hardship.
Over the last 10 months, the Trump administration has targeted immigrants and refugees on the basis of their religion and the color of their skin. Make no mistake, this move is yet another Islamophobic and xenophobic attack that reflects the true values of this administration.
United We Dream will continue fighting against these attacks because we are steadfast and unapologetically committed to the dignity and fair treatment of all immigrants, regardless of immigration status.”
