Washington, D.C. – Following news earlier this month that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program has been reinstated to its original form, immigrant youth from United We Dream have put launched “DACA is BACK,” a directory of multilingual resources to help DACA recipients and DACA-eligible youth learn more about the program’s current state and how to apply.
Some of the resources in our DACA is BACK directory include:
- A comprehensive DACA eligibility checklist for initial applicants made in collaboration with the UndocuBlack Network and a “Top 5 Things to Know” graphic available in English, Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Korean, Tagalog and Vietnamese.
- Access to three online DACA application prep sessions that review first-time application and renewal requirements and how to fill out the application forms.
- A guide to accessing trusted legal advice, along with a guide on affidavits.
- Two step-by-step guides on how to submit an initial DACA application and how to renew.
United We Dream will soon be rolling out additional resources, which include in-depth information on advance parole and ways allies can help support their DACA-eligible friends.
Juliana Macedo do Nascimento, State and Local Policy Manager of United We Dream, said:
“With DACA reinstated, there is no time to waste in making sure everyone who is eligible for the program has the resources they need to apply and get the protections they deserve. If you believe you might be eligible, we strongly encourage you to consult a lawyer or a legal service provider to help you through the process. When I applied for DACA, I remember feeling overwhelmed with questions about my eligibility and the application process, wishing I had access to resources like these.
Immigrant youth and DACA recipients like myself know first-hand the types of questions and concerns our community is facing right now so we have lived experience to create the most needed tools. Our hope is that these resources will serve as guides to making sure DACA recipients and DACA-eligible folks have all the information they need to either renew their application or apply for the first time.”
