Washington, D.C. – Today, Senators James Lankford and Krysten Sinema are expected to introduce a new anti-immigrant bill that would challenge the Biden administration’s plans to end Title 42 by late May. This bill would be used as an amendment to the must-pass COVID relief bill and continue to fuel anti-immigrant, anti-Black violence against the lives of millions of immigrants and families seeking refuge in the U.S.

Juliana Macedo do Nascimento, Senior Advocacy Manager of United We Dream, said:

“The Public Health and Border Security Act of 2022 will further decimate our country’s asylum system and continue to strip people of their legal and moral right to seek asylum. People will always move, and as a country, we have a responsibility to live up to our values of providing a welcoming environment for people to seek asylum with dignity. Some Democrats are shamefully giving into Republicans’ anti-immigrant fear-mongering about people seeking asylum. They are wrong. The vast majority of Americans believe our country should build a more humane and just immigration system. Any Democrat in Congress who supports this bill is attaching themselves directly to Title 42 and its white supremacist roots that disproportionately target Black and brown immigrants.”

This March marks 21 years of ICE CBP & DHS terrorizing our immigrant communities.

Ever since their creation, ICE and CBP have targeted, detained, abused and deported immigrants while separating loved ones and tearing apart communities. Donate 21 dollars to help us fight back against the 21 years of terror.
