Congress Must Stand with Immigrants and Vote No on the Supplemental

Washington, D.C. – On Sunday, the Senate released its supplemental funding bill asking for an additional $118 billion that includes funds for migrant detention and deportation, changes in the asylum system, and the war in Ukraine as well as for Israel’s military involvement in the war in Gaza.

Greisa Martinez Rosas, Executive Director of United We Dream Action, said:

“Congress must unequivocally vote no on this anti-immigrant supplemental bill that pours billions into the hands of unaccountable deportation agents. We will not be used as political pawns for increased militarization at our borders and overseas. This bill sets a dangerous legacy and signals to the country that Trump’s immigration policy has captured our government. A yes vote on this bill means cowering to the MAGA Republican’s strategy. We call on Senate Democrats to stand with immigrants and people of conscience. We know that our country can welcome all immigrants with dignity  and can deliver permanent protection. Congress must stand with immigrants and vote no on this supplemental funding bill.”
