Washington, D.C. – The Home is Here coalition is set to premiere its new ad titled “Our Home is Here“ on December 23rd and Christmas Eve at 70+ major airports across the country. The ad showcases the lives of immigrant youth with DACA – Angelica from Oklahoma, Sana from New York, Yazmin from New Mexico, and Manny from Maryland – their families and their multifaceted stories of strength, hope, and community.
The ad will air during three NFL games, including the Buffalo Bills vs. Los Angeles Chargers, the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Pittsburgh Steelers games on December 23, and the Dallas Cowboys vs. Miami Dolphins game on December 24.
The Home is Here coalition released the following statement:
“At a time when millions of Americans travel to see their loved ones to celebrate the holidays, the ad serves as a reminder that the fight for permanent citizenship continues. Millions of immigrants – who are fighting every day to continue building their lives in this country – are denied everyday freedoms due to an inhumane and arcane immigration system.
Meanwhile, some politicians and elected officials are using their time to attack immigrants, most recently with a renewed push to kill the DACA program, going after our asylum laws, and passing state policies that aim to separate, racially profile, harass, and inhumanely detain families. Currently, DACA protects millions of young people from deportation and provides them with a work permit to pursue higher education and their careers, further supporting their families and communities across the country.
In a historic win for the Home is Here campaign, the Supreme Court upheld DACA in 2020, but earlier this year – District Judge Andrew Hanen of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas – again ruled against DACA. The Home is Here coalition has again come together to fight back and look towards permanent protections. During this holiday season, we call on allies to join us in the fight.”
