United We Dream Launches 2022 Unafraid Campaign to Empower Young People at the Polls

Contact: press@unitedwedream.org

Washington, D.C.  – Today United We Dream (UWD) is kicking off the 2022 “Unafraid” civic engagement campaign. The launch of the “Unafraid” campaign will include a livestream event from Miami, Florida.

The Unafraid campaign will equip young people of color with accurate voting information and encourage them to make their voices heard at the polls. The program will feature online trainings, phone and text banking, and other digital content to educate members and voters across the country and engage their interesecting political interests through partnerships with multiple organizations. This is the latest effort by UWD to combat the misinformation campaigns that target Latinx and first-time voters by deterring them from making their voices heard at the polls.

Bruna Sollod, Senior Political and Communications Director of United We Dream, said:

“The current reality facing young people in this country can feel grim at times. We are facing a multitude of challenges – high student loan debt;  lack of healthcare and increasing rent, gas and food prices, all while we live with the threat of natural disasters, mass shootings and detention and deportations. These challenges keep young people from truly feeling safe and thriving, but we remain Unafraid of our collective power.

These upcoming midterm elections represent a time for much-needed action and change that will be spearheaded by the brave Black and brown youth who have been organizing and using every opportunity they can to bring about change, including by voting.

Despite the slew of ongoing challenges faced by this generation, young people are Unafraid to take action every day to protect each other. Through our Unafraid campaign, United We Dream will engage young people of color, equip them with accurate voting information, encourage them to make their voices heard at the polls, and empower them to make decisions for themselves and their communities.”

This March marks 21 years of ICE CBP & DHS terrorizing our immigrant communities.

Ever since their creation, ICE and CBP have targeted, detained, abused and deported immigrants while separating loved ones and tearing apart communities. Donate 21 dollars to help us fight back against the 21 years of terror.
