With the Clock Ticking To Pass Citizenship This Year, Targeted Ads Push Senators to Deliver Citizenship for Immigrant Youth

Washington, D.C. — As over 200 immigrant youth and allies arrived in Washington, D.C. for a week of action, United We Dream and the Home is Here coalition released two targeted ads on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram to demand Congress deliver citizenship for immigrant youth this year through the must pass omnibus spending bill.
The first ad will run in Texas and highlight Senator John Cornyn’s (R-TX) long history of promises to deliver citizenship over the last 20 years he’s been in the Senate. The second ad titled “DACA Rollercoaster” will run in North Carolina and Missouri, home to two Republican Senators—Senator Thom Thillis (R-NC) and Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO). The ads encourage people in North Carolina, Missouri and Texas to pressure their elected officials to make good on their promises to deliver permanent protection for immigrant youth.

The digital ads will be accompanied by a jumbotron in Columbus Circle, facing the Union Station train station, where people – including Capitol Hill staff – commute in and out of each day.  The jumbotron will feature various short stories of immigrant youth and graphics that call on specific Senators and House Members to pass citizenship.

Bruna Sollod, Senior Communication and Political Director of United We Dream, said:

“Immigrant youth are doing what we always do best: making the stakes of this urgent moment clear to members of Congress. With the possible end of DACA near, we won’t let politicians forget what they’ve promised and why they must deliver. We are days away from the end of the year and an omnibus that must come together.  We can no longer live through a rollercoaster of DACA court cases, and Congress must use this golden opportunity to deliver real solutions.”
